Redondo Beach Pier: 1937

This is a 1937 photo from the end of the Horseshoe Pier.  The camera is facing northwest.

The building just inside the north end of the pier with the arches is the Looff Hippodrome (carousel building).  Notice the Southern California Edison power plant (large building with three smokestacks) in the upper left of the photo.
