This is a photo of the Hermosa Beach Strand area on 30 August 1932. The camera is pointing just east of north.

The municipal pier extends out into the ocean. The Surf and Sand Club is the large building on the oceanfront. Many dwellings can be see along the oceanfront with sparsely populated areas in the background.
