This is a 1925 aerial photo over Redondo Beach and Hermosa Beach.  The camera is facing north.

The Southern California Edison Company power plant is in the foreground (with the 3 smokestacks). The Hermosa Beach Pier extends out into the Pacific in the middle-left of the photo. Notice how most of Hermosa Beach and Manhattan Beach (west of PCH) was built on sand.
